Danish Social Impact Company in Vietnam since 2018
Not just plastic is a social impact initiative by Not just group Vietnam Co. Ltd. founded by Frantz Byrch Pedersen from Denmark.
Frantz has studied, lived and worked in China and Hong Kong since year 2000 and came to Vietnam in 2015 to source bamboo for his 'Not just a bottle' business idea.
During the trip he cut a bamboo pole in a rural bamboo forrest, met Government officials and played with the students in the bamboo village. Frantz immediately fell in love with the culture, food and people and wanted to start his new business idea and support Vietnam.

Plastic Waste Pollution
Since 2000 Frantz has seen the sad and shocking increase of plastic waste pollution in Asia, in particular in Hong Kong - six million plastic bottles are consumed and thrown away each day.
Arriving in Vietnam he realised that 75% of all organic- and plastic waste ended up in landfills and a small percentage of high and low value plastic waste such as cups, lids, straws were being recycled.

Plastic Waste Today – Recycled Products Tomorrow
Recycling Waste
Since 2017 Frantz has worked with waste materials such as bamboo, coffee and wood waste and combined them with a binding material.
In 2021 he developed ‘Not just a cup’ utilising wood waste from the Danish furniture company 'Carl Hansen & Son' mixed with coffee waste from Maersk’s Head Quarter and old library books from the Danish Royal Library in Copenhagen.

Idea to Initiative
April 2022 Frantz returned to Vietnam and met with the local Government in Hoi An. He shared his knowledge of working with waste materials and his passion and ideas of helping Vietnam with the plastic waste situation, especially low value plastic waste.
After 18 months of product research, meeting local Government officials, factories, potential plastic partners and talking to local schools he started the Not just plastic Initiative November, 2023.
